Last weekend, I went away for the weekend with my best friends, Samantha and Lisa. I have never done anything like this apart from going to London a couple of years ago with a big group of friends. I’ll be honest, I was feeling a little nervous about being away from home without my partner as the whole 3 years we have lived together, the only time I have stayed away overnight was when I was admitted to hospital for 4 nights! I can now say that I am so glad I went as it was such an amazing experience! I love spending time with my partner but having a whole weekend of girl time with my besties was just what I needed.
We drove down on Saturday afternoon around 3pm. It was a lovely drive and was great just chilling listening to some tunes while planning what we were going to do when we arrived. When we got into Edinburgh, we found my friend’s flat that we were going to be staying in and parked the car. We then got a bus into the centre and hit the shops. We walked along Princes Street and I bought a beautiful black velvet crop top for going out that night and Samantha bought a stunning new pair of heels. We then went for the yummiest Nandos ever and then got a bus back to the flat. We spent the next couple of hours doing our hair and makeup. We got the bus into town and went to some pubs before heading to the club. I have never been a big fan of clubs due to them being so busy and that makes me anxious but I am so proud of myself for handling it so well and not getting anxious at all while being in there! It was a brilliant night, we had so much fan dancing and just enjoying ourselves. On the way home, we went to an all night bakery (how amazing!?) and got a delicious steak pie each and got home about 4am.
Surprisingly, we weren’t hung over the next morning and went to Nandos for some brunch. We then picked up Lisa from the station and headed into town to go to the cat cafe. To kill some time first, we went to see Grey Friar’s Bobby grave and it was so interesting to walk through the graveyard and read about the history of the place. The cat cafe was honestly the most amazing experience. We had to take our shoes off when we went in and there were cats everywhere! A little sleepy bengal cat was on the couch and the other cats were lying on the chairs, floor, beds etc. They have actual mini beds for the cats to sleep in! There are lots of toys you can use to play with the cats and there are also lots of hiding places for them to go. We ordered some cake and tea and sat down at a table. A little sphinx cat jumped on my knee and made a grab for my cake! She was so cute and determined she was getting some cake! We were also given some treatsand it was so amazing becuase all the cats came out, (even ones we hadn’t seen yet) to get some! I felt so relaxed and chilled out and the atmosphere was lovely. If you are a fan of cats, definitely go check it out. Their website is http://maisondemoggy.com/.
I will be going back for sure! I took loads of pictures but I will include the best ones here.
That evening, we went a walk along the streets and watched some free entertainment as the festival was on so there were many exciting things happening. And we finished the night off by cosying up in our pjs with some wine and a movie.
This was our last day so we wanted to spend it doing something really fun. We spent the day at the zoo which was fantastic! It was such a sunny day and we loved walking around seeing all the different animals. The meerkats and the penguin parade were my favourites! I’ll include some pictures so you can have a nosy at what our day was like. (Credit for osme of these pictures go to my friend Samantha, yes I stole some shh!)
Overall, the weekend was fantastic and I am so proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone and so grateful that I got to spend the weekend with my best friends!
I hope you enjoyed a little insight into Edinburgh and thank you for reading!
Love and light ❤
